Dear Colleagues,

We hereby inform you that the IAF International Accreditation Forum has published IAF ID 9, ISO 9001:2015 Transition Planning Guide. This document defines the procedure for transition to the new version of the standard.

According to this document, the main changes in the new version of ISO 9001:2015 include:
I) Transition to a high-level structure as stipulated by Annex SL of Part 1 of the ISO Directives.
II) A clear requirement for risk-based thinking to maintain and improve the understanding and application of the process approach.
III) Fewer set requirements.
IV) Less emphasis on documents.
V) Improved service usability.
VI) The requirement to define the boundaries of the QMS.
VII) Greater emphasis on the organizational context.
VIII) Increasing Leadership Requirements.
IX) Greater emphasis on achieving expected results to increase customer satisfaction.

The International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the ISO Committee on Conformity Assessment (CASCO) have established a three-year transition period since the publication of ISO 9001:2015. IAF Resolution 2013-15, adopted by the IAF General Assembly in Seoul on October 23, 2013, confirms the three-year transition period to ISO 9001:2015.

ISO 9001:2008 certifications will expire three years after the publication of ISO 9001:2015.

The expiration date for ISO 9001:2008 certifications issued during the transition period must correspond to the end of the three-year transition period.
